Coke 600 Rain Delay

Rain Delays Coca-Cola 600, History Repeats

NASCAR Classic Halted for Fourth Time Due to Inclement Weather

For the fourth time in its 600-mile history, the Coca-Cola 600 has been halted due to rain. The NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway was placed on hold after 250 of 400 laps due to lightning. The delay came as the race was nearing its conclusion, with Christopher Bell leading over Martin Truex Jr. and Kevin Harvick.

History in the Making

The rain delay marks the first time the Coca-Cola 600 has been stopped for weather since 2009. It is also the second time the race has been delayed by lightning, with the previous occurrence happening in 2002. The other two rain delays occurred in 1965 and 1971.
